Hello lovelies,

February is here and I would like to wish you girls – Happy upcoming Valentine’s day.
After a week long holiday in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, I managed to finally recover from the holiday blues this week.
I would like to share some of my recent favourites for the month of January 2014. Hope it’s not too late!

1. Maybelline Lip Polish

I owned two of these already. This fabulous lip colour which hydrates your lip, is super-pigmented and gives it shine in one swipe. I agreed that it is slighty sticky as most of lip gloss out there, but it is a comfortable wear on the lips. I have been wearing Maybelline lip polish so much since I got them in early Jan. My favourite shade would be GLAM5- soft creamy mauve suitable for all skin tone. Another shade that I own is GLAM2 which is a pretty lip colour for daily wear.

2. Maybelline Dream Matte mousse foundation

As I have super oily skin, I grabbed this as it promised a matte finish to your complexion, which I NEED. I love how smooth and ‘mousse’y it feels in your finger tips. A single swipe can cover almost half of my face. Sometimes, for a flawless finish, I dip my Real techniques Expert Face brush to the top of the jar and buff on my skin. This method can offer full coverage if I build it up slowly. As it is not liquid, my brush doesn’t soak up the product hence the smooth application rather than a cakey finish.
(My shade is in Medium 1: Sandy Beige)

3. Silky girl 20 Hours waterproof eye liner pencil in Blackest black

I love how creamy and cheap this is! It is also really pigmented. I love using it to tight-line my upper lashlines. Been using it almost everyday. It is waterproof hence the long wear of this eye pencil. I particularly love the retractable pencil and this particularly twists up and down smoothly. I owned two of these at the moment :one for my vanity at home, another in my travel makeup kit (so it can brings it everywhere). As this eye pencil is so creamy, I can easily do smokey eyes and blend with a stiff brush especially at the outer corner. This is a good black base for smokey eyeshadow too.
It costed about RM 15 -19 and comes in two colours- blackest black and dark brown. (I would definitely stock up on these during sale period in Watsons.)

4. Kérastase Bain Riche Dermo-Calm shampoo

Besides super oily skin, I have oily scalp. However my hair is dry as dry twigs. I suffered from itchy scalp and falling hair for the past two months, so much that I feel like I am one of the patients receiving chemotherapy. 🙁 I incidentally went to Mico hair saloon for a hair cut. New year, new hair style right?! Although I’m wearing hijab, hair is a woman’s crown which needs regular maintance. I love having beautiful hair, and I think Mr. hubby approves too.
There I was in the hair saloon, mentioning that I suffered from itchy scalp. Because of that I need to shampoo everyday. In turn, my hair fall worsen. Every time after washing my hair, there were hair balls in the shower like a freaking Korean horror/ ghost movie.
The hair stylist said that I may now have sensitive scalp that causes malnourished, dry brittle hair. She recommended the Kérastase Bain Riche Dermo-calm shampoo and after 1-2 use, my scalp feels calmer, non itchy at all. The hair fall is remarkably improved. I usually pair this shampoo with my usual conditioner. I love the smell of this shampoo too. It is pretty expensive but it works a miracle for me.

5. Random favourite: Wunderlist app for ipad and iphone.

As I embarked into a new work place in January, I realised that I needed an efficient to-do list. I also resolved to be more organised this year and Wunderlist is a wonderful app that helps me stay organised and focused throughout the month. Basically you can put your to-do list in different tabs, for example ‘work’, ‘home’, ‘blog’ etc. Then in each tab, you can add what to do and its due date. You can view the to-do list in calendar form or category form. Wunderlist will send you an email to remind you when a task is due. I can access my Wunderlist account from both my iphone and ipad which is brilliant as I mostly do my reading and blogging using ipad. Thanks to hubby @zurairi for installing this app for me.
