I am so in love with my new Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette that I get obsessed with chocolate this week. (My husband has sneaked lil presents to me last week: a huge block of Cadbury bar and Hershey’s kisses—>doesn’t help either)

I mentioned in my previous post that chocolate has been used for centuries in beauty rituals. Inspired by the Aztec ladies that improvised the Mayan recipe in 1325, I give you an easy breezy D.I.Y Cocoa-licious Mocha face mask.
Things you need
- 2 tablespoons of Pure Cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of Coffee grounds or coffee powder
- 1 tablespoons of Honey
- A cute bowl
- A spatula or a spoon
Mix all ingredients in a bowl thoroughly and you will get a thick dark brown paste. Add a teaspoon of water, if you like slightly runny consistency.
Apply to freshly washed skin with spatula or hand.
Leave this delicious mask for 10 to 15 mins.
While washing it off, massage your skin in circular motions. If you’re using coffee grounds, it is a natural exfoliant. 2-in-1 treatment: mask and facial scrub!
Afterwards, rinse and pat dry with towel. Then apply your usual skincare – serum and moisturiser.
Extra tip: Use usual toner on cotton pads to remove any excess stickiness.
This Mocha mask has detoxifying and de-puffing effect on the skin.
The caffeine from coffee helps reduce swelling and puffiness, while the antioxidants in the cocoa helps reduce ageing. Use >70% dark cocoa for a greater antioxidant effect. Honey is known for healing, soothing and moisturising effect on skin.
If there is some amount of Mocha mask left, bring it to the shower and use it on your body especially the thigh, arm and tummy. (This little home spa session reminds me of a chocolate body scrub and mask treatment I had in Indonesia during a holiday 2 years ago.)
