I was in Bangkok, Thailand the last week and I have visited the Boots pharmacy to check out the drugstore makeup products available in Thailand. I loves to visit the drugstore to every country I visit in search of a good bargain on beauty products. It is also interesting to see how different it is between each country.
I wanted to try a natural makeup line and I found the Natural Collection in Boots pharmacy. In contrast to a cute, girly make up brand The Bakery, that I also bought in Bangkok (Read review HERE), Natural Collection has minimalist, basic plastic packaging. It is fragrance free and dermatological tested. The brand is produced in Thailand for Boots pharmacy so it is pretty cheap. Each product costed less than 200 Thai Baht (equivalent to <RM19.70). I only grabbed a few stuff from Natural Collection, so let’s get on with it.
1) Solo Eyeshadow in Asteroid
As I am a neutral shade lover, so I grabbed Asteroid which is a Dark brown shade is tiny bronze shimmers. It has pretty pigmentation, you can get a lot with only one swipe and the powder blends smoothly over the skin. I really like how smooth and soft it felt on the lids. Really like this little eyeshadow.
From the swatch below, you can appreciate the pigmentation and fine the powder eyeshadow is. This particular shade is great to wear on its own – only thinly for a natural brown or heavily packed for a brown smokey eyes.
Cost: 79 Thai Baht ( RM7.80)
2) Water Guard Mascara in Brown/Black
Currently I do not own any brown/ black mascara so I decided to get this. My lashes looks natural yet volumised. Just enough for natural look that I yearn for. It claimed to be waterproof and smudge resistant mascara, unfortunately It is not as waterproof as it claimed. This mascara does not hold the curl long too.
Cost: 119 Thai Baht ( RM 11.70)
3) Multiple Blush Stick in Petunia
This is a twist up blush stick. I chose Petunia, a pretty coral that look good on my tanned skin. It contains no shimmers at all. I applied it using fingers and it is creamy and easily blend into the skin. It gives a natural satiny flush on the cheeks. On its own, the blush lasted up to 6 hours in humid weather, if I pat powder blush (similar shade) on top it last longer up to 8-10 hours.
I really like how Petunia matches my skin tone for a natural flush look.
Cost: 67 Thai Baht ( RM 6.60)
4) Moisture Shine Lipstick in Raspberry
I have always love moisturising lipstick and Natural Collection’s Moisture Shine lipstick is pretty hydrating to the lips. The pigmentation is great and fades a little after eating. Raspberry is a bright red berry shade. This lipstick gives a subtle shine to the lips without the overpowering sparkles. I really love how beautiful this shade look on my lips and how natural it feels without the stickiness of a lip gloss.
I would reapply the lipstick after eating to get the same intensity as freshly applied, otherwise I would only retouch once and my lips still looks good by the end of the day.
The only thing I can’t stand is the “grandma” scent of this lipstick. It is rather strong. This may be the only reason I wouldn’t repurchase this. It’s a shame since the pigmentation and wear is superb.
Cost: 89 Thai Baht ( RM 8.75)
The Natural Collection is an affordable make up line that is especially good for young girls or those who just want to start wearing or using make up and would want to spend a fortune. Personally, I really like the solo eyeshadow and moisturise shine lipstick.
Unfortunately, it is only available via Boots pharmacy. And the nearest Boots (from Malaysia) is Thailand. If I ever visited Boots again, I will definitely grab more products from Natural Collection.
I also did a review on another makeup brand that I bought while in Bangkok: The Bakery Makeup by Beauty Buffet. Click below to read more.
