Got milk?

Ok, the ever so sexy David Bekham has just recently landed here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and I didn’t get any glimpse of him at all. >_<~~ So, here’s a picture of him (younger but he’s hotter now!) in the American Got Milk campaign.

Hey, even David Bekham knows the health benefits of milk. Milk is an important part of our diet. It is a great source of vitamins and nutrients, and it has several health benefits including nourishing your skin. I would like to share with you guys my weekend home spa routine using milk! So skip that bowl of cereal and let’s get beautifying!

Power of Milk

Milk has several nutrients which help skin look its best. It has lactic acid which can act as an exfoliant and enzymes to help smooth skin. It also has amino acids that help keep skin moisturized. Milk can help prevent damage from environmental toxins because it has antioxidants.

Milk baths have been around for centuries—millenia, even—and for good reason: It hydrates and replenishes the skin, leaving it glowing and radiant. It has been said that Queen Cleopatra took luxurious milk baths to help her skin stay soft, supple and glowing. You may not need to fill your entire tub with gallon upon gallon of milk to achieve silky smooth stems. I use YOKO Shower and Body Care Essential Moo Moo kit which includes four luxurious products that contains Milk Protein and gives you the beautifying benefits of milk for a healthy, silky hair and smooth skin.

I always try to make an extra effort during the weekend doing my own home spa hair and body care treatment. Usually I love to go for a run on weekend morning or I will wake up late than usual. On both occasions, I’m usually sweaty and oily with itchy scalp. Here as the step-by-step on my weekend morning home spa routine.

Step 1

On stepping into the shower, I will shampoo my hair first and massage my scalp to stimulate hair growth. I’m using shampoo that is suitable for sensitive scalp.

After shampoo, I would then apply YOKO Hair Spa Milky Rich throughout my hair concentrating the product at the ends of my hair. I would leave it for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off. YOKO Hair Spa Milky Rich contain unique blend of highly beneficial ingredients: Milk protein, Coconut oil, and Argan oil that boost up beautiful shiny hair.

Sometimes, I would cover my hair with warm wet towel, twist it around and leave it for about 20minutes. This will help open up the hair cuticles making it easier for the milk protein to be absorbed into the hair. I love using this hair mask because the natural ingredients will soothe my itchy scalp and soften my hair. Hair so soft and silky, no more tangle and frizzy hair!

Step 2

While waiting for the hair spa to work, I usually will exfoliate my skin with YOKO Spa Milk Salt Shower Bath. Milk contains lactic acid, which is a form of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), the same ingredient in upscale chemical exfoliants. AHAs work to reduce wrinkles and boost collagen while smoothing skin overall.

YOKO Spa Milk Salt Shower Bath however also contains not only Milk Protein but vitamin E and natural salt. It removes dirt deposit and dead skin cells, exfoliating gently, giving me a new smooth and radiant skin. I love that it is not too harsh and abrasive.

Step 3

Then, I will rinse off everything from head to toes. Make sure there is no product residue in my hair and scalp. I will rinse across all nooks and cranny, in between skin folds for a squeaky clean self. I really love how soft and silky my skin feels while rinsing. I will then wash my face with facial wash to ensure not shampoo/hair mask residue stuck on my facial skin. (This has been talked about as one of the source of clogged pores and acne)

Step 4

After I towel-dried, it is important to apply moisturising body lotion to the entire skin to replace the lost hydration in the shower. I am using YOKO Milky Body Lotion: a non-greasy formula body lotion enriched with Milk Protein and Vitamin B3 for nourishing and moisturising your skin. The added Vitamin E and Licorice extract leaving your skin smoother, brighter and more supple. It is pleasantly has a light consistency and fresh scent as I smooth over my skin and massage gently until absorbed.

For a rough area like elbows, knees and feet, I love using YOKO Body Butter Cream Milk Protein. This is a thicker, rich cream (but fast absorbing) that on application will retain skin moisture to combat wrinkles, brighten skin and improve skin condition for a softer and smoother skin.  The key ingredients are Milk Protein, Aloe Vera extract and Chamomile extract. I love reapplying YOKO Body Butter Cream Milk Protein at night too.

After all that hard work, if I have time, I do some home spa facial too. (That’s another long wholesome routine, I might feature it in another blog post). But I would never forget to spray some deodorant, get dressed and relax. It is the weekend after all.
