Bonjour Beauties… Who’s ready for soft velvety lips?
This is a pretty busy week for me with courses, work and helping family organising brother-in-law’s wedding. He’s officially married earlier today. Congratulations Akram!
Anyway, I would love to do a quick review on the new Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks which have just reached our shore last month.
These are my recent addition in my lipstick collection. However Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet are already my obsession and definitely in my favourite lips product this year. (I mentioned this first in my lips product addict tag HERE).
I love the packaging, The colour on the packaging is exact match to the actual lipstick. It’s squarish bullet is very similar to Maybelline Lip Polish, however I feel that Bourjois’s are more sleek.
The doe-foot applicator is soft and comfortable. I really like that it is solid and not too long or too wide that it exceed the width of my natural lips. When I apply the product with the applicator, it applied smoothly with no streakiness. I can apply with adequate precision too.
The texture of the lips product is soft melting, that glides on your lips effortlessly and leaves your lips kiss-ably smooth and velvety. Initially i feel that it gives a sheen which then dries up to a perfect matte finish.
The formula is creamy and very pigmented just like a lip laquer. However, it felt light on the lips and non-sticky. The Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick is long lasting too, it survived through breakfast and lunch. However, I do feel that I need to touch up after lunch as the intensity over the centre of my lips faded.
Although it is matte lipstick, the formula is the non-drying and does not settle into the crack of my lips. As a precaution though, you should use lip scrub (I use Makeup Crime’s Love Bite Attack Lip Scrub) and lip balm (I love Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue) prior to wearing Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick to ensure a smooth and beautiful finish.
This is definitely not a stain but it does transfer to your cup or glasses. But it is not too bad and does not affect the vibrancy of the shade on your lips.
On a scale of 5, I would rate Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick 4.5 stars! Of all three shades that I own now, my favourite would 07 Nude-ist. LOVE!!!
Bourjois is quickly one of the my favourite drugstore make up brand nowadays. Can’t wait to try more of their products. 🙂
