Review: SK II Signs Eye Mask

Time for a review. I’ve got this with the SK II Facial  treatment essence set.
Have been saving it for a special occasion.
I’ve been working really hard last week, so I’ve decided to pamper myself with this.
And hopefully reduce the eye bags hence minimising some wrinkle.
In the official SKII website,
This mask is to immediately helps improve dullness and hydration under eyes, and skin firmness.
Ingredients:
Aqua (Water / Eau), Saccharomycopsis Ferment Filtrate**, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Tripeptide-3, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Glycine Max (Soybean) Symbiosome Extract, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Dimethiconol, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Polysorbate 80, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Disodium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Salicylate, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Butylparaben

The packaging:

It’s in the signature deep red colour packaging with SK II logo.
the two piece eye mask are placed in a plastic tray mould to hold its shape. That good as sometimes, in other packaging, we need to peel the two pieces of each other and sometimes we can tore the delicate mask while pulling them apart.
SK II has packaging it well.
I also like that the essence on the mask is not too watery that it’s dripping when I remove it from the plastic tray.

Verdict:

The immediately feeling when I wear the mask that I feel tightness and cooling feeling around the eye area.
I applied the mask for slightly over 20 minutes and pat the under eyes area for a few secondafter removing the mask.
My skin felt so refreshed and soft. My under eyes definitely looks brightened and hydrated.  Too bad I only have one of the mask to really know the wrinkle-reducing effect.

Conclusion: Great packaging, Great to reduce under eyes circle and refresh tired looking eyes.

Here’s a picture of me wearing the mask. I closed my eyes imagining that I’m lying comfortably by the pool side in a secluded little resort with a Glass of pineapple mocktail in the right hand. Chewaah!
(reality: just wearing the mask in my bedroom)
That’s all for my review. See you guys soon.

My Kanebo Lunasol makeover experience

I went to a wedding yesterday and was pretty excited to finally get a chance to use my Kanebo makeup makeover voucher which I’ve got from Vanity Trove March 2013 beauty box.
(yay for vouchers)

Lunasol Fresh Spring colours

I’ve decided having the makeover at Parkson Pavilion as I wanted to stop by Sephora too.
They were really nice when I called to book a session 3 days earlier.

So, I arrived 5 mins early and the Kanebo girl, Jayce already waiting for me. She gave me the most polite warm welcome. That was nice. I must admit that I did wore a tinted lip balm and dust powder foundation lighty even though I’m supposed to go there bare-faced.

After removing my make up, I’ve get the chance to test Kanebo’s Blanchir Superior White Deep facial cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Then, the actual makeover. I managed to steal 3-4 points of make up lesson for my face shape. Jayce was really friendly too. I like how she explained step by step of what product she’s applying to my face.

Bonus: I got my brow groomed too.

Here the face products that I get to test during the make over.

I ended up choosing a more natural glowy look for the night and I’m planning to wear red.
Jayce have done beautifully on even out my skin tone and she makes my complexion brighter. I love it.
 Tadaa!!!!

The supposed to be 45min makeover session ends after 1 and 15mins. I feel so pampered. The last makeover I had was in 2006 with Anna Sui. But Jayce has made my experience more fun.

I wish I was able to try more bright colourful eye shadow and lip colour next time. Well I did gather some inspirations with Kanebo Lunasol range. Here’s some pictures and I shall see u guys later.

The lovely Jayce

On our arrival to the ballroom

End of the night with the bride and groom.
My makeup still looks flawless

Review: Revlon Colorstay Makeup liquid foundation

New obsession!

Revlon’s Colorstay Makeup Liquid Foundation for oily and combination skin
                                       My shade: 340 Early Tan

I’ve been using this liquid foundation a lot lately and have been loving it.  It provide light to medium coverage and easily buildable. My skin tone are even with only one application.

I love how light on skin it feel. Hence,  it’s not cakey even after applying concealer.
As I do have very oily skin,  I have to set this with powder. I would use powder foundation with matching shade to achieve full coverage. However,  this foundation would set perfectly without powder too.

It’s a great foundation for everyday wear.  I usually to apply with sponge like beauty blender or fingers. It stayed on sponge or brush rather firmly. Sometimes its a pain to wash my foundation brushes. So, I like to apply with disposable make up sponges or clean fingers.

It claims to last up to 24 hours.  My foundation lasted for a good 10-12 hours before I have to blot excess oil around the T-zone.

I don’t really like the packaging of this product. It’s in a sturdy glass cylindrical bottle which fit perfectly in my travel makeup bag. However, it doesn’t have a pump. So, it is hard to control the amount of product coming out with each application. But, I’m getting hang of it now. I used to waste a lot of product in the sponge when I first use this foundation. It is not so liquidy that it pours out endlessly. So, it is not too bad.

So far, I’ve been getting compliment on how natural and even my skin tone is with Revlon’s Colorstay foundation. Although, it is slightly expensive compared to other drug store brand, it is definitely worth more than the extra cash.

Pro: light feel, great lasting power, easily set, suitable for oily and combination skin

Cons: slightly pricey, bottle doesn’t have pump

Maybelline Color Tattoo

The other day, I went to my favourite drug store,  Watson to get Revlon’s lip butter in Berry Smoothie.  Had been ogling that shade for the longest time.

I noticed an empty slots with “coming soon”  sign at Maybelline.  Those rounded acrylic pan seemed familiar.  My heart skipped a beat when I realised it’s Maybelline Color tattoo cream eyeshadow.  I’m also disheartened when they’re not yet available.

However…..

……good news,  I found them at the local supermarket,  Pacific at KB mall at their cosmetic counter.Yaaay!!
I grabbed 2 shades – Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe.
It costed RM19.90 each but I also ot 10% discount.  Lucky!

I swatched on my skin,  it’s highly pigmented and super long wear.  Its waterproof too.  It stayed all day until I get home and remove it with make up remover.

Conclusion : Super love!!!

All about ‘URAT’

If there a word that I can get confuse easily in the medical world, it would be ‘Urat’.
This four letter word is often use by Malays esp makcik2, pakcik2 kampung. But educated Dato’2, Datin2, would also use this word to a doctor.

As a medical practioner, it’s very difficult for me to come to a diagnosis when a patient says “saya sakit urat”.
There’s so many anatomical phrases that one can use, but the most patients esp elderly like to point to a spot in their body and says “saya sakit urat”.

Urat can represent so many things, for example

Urat: muscle
Urat darah: veins or arteries
Urat saraf: nerves
Urat keting: ligament or tendon
Sakit urat: muscleache
Sakit urat kepala: headache
etc..

Hence, it is quite frustrating for me to explain certain diagnoses or what injection I’ve just given to a patient. It’s even more difficult when I want to take blood from a patient.
“Saya ambil darah sikit ya, pakcik.”
“Ambil dari mana,doktor?”
“Ambil dari urat.” (note: vein)
“Tak ke nanti saya sakit urat?” (note: nerve) he continues “Pakcik memang dah sakit urat” (note: muscle)
Whaaat?

Due to its ambigous nature of the meaning of the word ‘urat’. There’s lots of products especially alternative medicine to ‘help’ or even cure “sakit urat’
For example:

Bogus!!

To make it simply:
 “Saya sakit ape doktor?”
                            “Sakit urat, pakcik. Nah ubat.”

Note: Urat is not equal to Aurat
Aurat simple mean part of body need to be covered.
***not sure anyone would be confuse on that :p

p.s: My favourite would be Sup Urat Keting. I’m sure it wouldn’t taste that good if it’s named “Ligament soup”
