Birthday surprise

Has been under the weather for the past 2 weeks and just recovered in time for my 29th Birthday last Tuesday.

My last chance before turning to the big 3 series next year.
Really appreciated the love and wishes from family and friends.
I’m even more ecstatic that i received an email from Sephora. Woot! Woot!

Can’t wait to redeem my gift and hit the store!
I did a birthday haul too. Stayed tune for that blog entry.

Mini Body shop haul

Last Friday I was in Midvalley Megamall for a mini catch up with besties If &  Nodee for a dinner after work.

Yes,  dinner at Pasta Zanmai was delish.  I love the twist on Italian Japanese fusion food.
By the end of the night,  we’re headed back to the car and noticed this super long queue at Body Shop.  It was 10.45pm.

Surprise surprise there was a massive sale up to 70%.

Can’t help myself not to stop by and have a look.  Most products on the shelf have 10% off including men care.  Makeup 20%. Home Fragrances 20%. The 50% – 70% discounts are for products placed on main table.

Being a beauty products junkie, I grabbed some stuff and this is my mini haul!

You wouldn’t want to miss a good bargain for Body Shop’s body butter. It was 50% off. I really love my old Passionfruit Body Butter the last time. This time I grabbed Satsuma Body Butter and also Brazil Nut Body Butter for my bestie, Siti. Satsuma body butter for normal skin and Brazil Nut body butter is catered for dry skin. Didn’t managed to get body butter duo as its only 20% off. The smell of satsuma orange is so refreshing and I couldn’t help picturing the sun rise every time i smelled this body butter. It’s breakie orange juice for the skin. Yumm!

I also grabbed Neroli Jasmin body lotion. After 70% discount its only 9 bucks. The Neroli Jasmin shower gel is cheap too but I’m not fond of Body Shop’s shower gel consistency. This smell heavenly soft and romantic.

Next are Pink Grapefruit Body Butter. These cute travel sized body butter are unbearably cheap, so I bought two. I planned to put this my car glove box for the ‘late to work’ morning. Recently, I noticed that I’m a sucker for fresh, fruity smell especially this month. These babies are not too overbearingly sweet orangey smell like Satsuma. I simply love the kick of zest.

In total, I spent around RM75 for RM230 (before discount). I did received an additional 10% discount for being a Body Shop member. Yay for more discounts! As per email from Body Shop, they’re having online sale (even higher discounts) on their Estore too.

Body Shop Malaysia Estore

Happy ending for a good meal and catching up with friends.

Review: Kanebo Kate eyeshadow duo

Its time for a review! I’m going to discuss about eyeshadow duo by Kate. I got the shade BR1. I think it stands for Brown.

I’ve been eyeing Kate products for a while.  I’m intrigued with the campaign pictures.  It’s not usually girly,  cutie wide eyed girl look that Japanese ad usually potrayed.  This ad potrayed womanly,  sexy,  sultry vampirish look instead.

But,  when I browse the eyeshadow pallete,  they’re mainly shimmering that looks best for girly look.  I guess sparkles do look good in any style anyway.

I got this from Vanity Trove March 2013. I’ve used this eyeshadow duo for the last 3 weeks and to me its pretty ok.  It’s not so pigmented and the two shades blended well.

It’s soft shimmery colours and not chalky at all.  So, there’s not fall out.
For my tanned skin tone,  I would have to apply at least 2 layers for the colours to shine through.  I love the dark brown colour. At time it has a bronzy hue.
The brown shadow also blended easily with matt brown colour and I love when there’s the contrast of texture.
Sometimes I like to apply the cream champagne colour as a soft highlights on the centre of upper eyelid and below the brow bone.
The shadows only last for approximately 6hours on my superoily eyelid even though I’m using eye shadow primer.

PRO: cute,  compact packaging,  loves the 2 sweet shimmering shades. Easy to blend.  Perfect for travel.
CONS: not long lasting or as pigmented

In my recent YouTube video, I did a 5 minutes makeup challenge. This eyeshadow is perfect for a simple, quick, rushing-to-go-now look.

Smell soo good

I participated in Vanity Trove’s ‘Discover your Scent’ session at Midvalley megamall yesterday and it was great.
I had a one-to-one consultation with Mr. Danny Ventura who is  manager the for outstanding perfume company like Issey Miyake etc.
This is the first time I experienced this session was pretty excited to learn a few things about perfume and finding my own signature scent.

On arrival,  I have to answer a set of questionnaire. The questions are for example:
What’s your favourite flower, Ideal vacation, Daily makeup look etc.
Then, I met Danny who is friendly and professional at the same time. He added up my score and said I’m more a Natural beauty kinda girl.
I was pretty nervous to meet Danny and at the same time excited too.

Things that I learned about perfume and scents:
1. My Ideal scent are light, nature-inspired, floral
2. Unfortunate those natural scent doesn’t last long, so I should find a EDT which provide burst of fragrance and then mellows
3. Woody scent for me will cause headache
4. Rose, lily, jasmine are best for me. Cedarwood is good too.
5. When choosing a perfume, it’s good to picture what colour and place the scent reminds you of and its easier to find the best fragrance for you
6. You should store perfume in cool, dry place. Best in drawer to preserve its quality and so it can last up to 24 months.

I bought Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey as recommended by Danny and my husband loves it. He did sprayed a little on my arms and it smells soo good. Love it!

Top Notes
Lotus, Freesia, Cyclamen, Rose water
Middle notes
Carnation, White lily, Fresh Peonies
Base notes
Musk, Amberseed, Tuberose, Osmanthos, Sandalwood, Cedarwood

After a brief 10mins chat, I received my long awaited goodie bag filled with perfume samples, a L’eau D’issey hand lotion and Elie Saab’s perfume shower gel.
I did pay 30 bucks to participate so I definitely expect something in return.  It was mentioned that we would able to get RM200 worth of products. I’m not too sure the Goodie bag worth 200 bucks but Syafiq, the promoter did managed to ‘steal’ me some more perfume samples for my husband and my sister who were with me that day.
Yay for freebies.

On top of the freebies, I’ve got RM30 voucher from vanity trove for my purchase and extra RM10 from Metrojaya. So, that’s cool.
I even bought a bottle Issey Miyake intense for my husband and we got another RM30 voucher as my first purchase was more than RM250. Its a splurge, but its been a year and a half since we purchase a perfume.
This is sorta like an update.

Overall,  it was a fresh, interesting experience for me and it preceded my expectations.  It was fun. Really.

After my Kanebo makeover session (you can read all about it HERE)  and today’s session, I’m really excited for another beauty adventure with Vanity Trove.
Lets hope for another lucky voucher in next trove.

Review: SK II Signs Eye Mask

Time for a review. I’ve got this with the SK II Facial  treatment essence set.
Have been saving it for a special occasion.
I’ve been working really hard last week, so I’ve decided to pamper myself with this.
And hopefully reduce the eye bags hence minimising some wrinkle.
In the official SKII website,
This mask is to immediately helps improve dullness and hydration under eyes, and skin firmness.
Ingredients:
Aqua (Water / Eau), Saccharomycopsis Ferment Filtrate**, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Panthenol, Acetyl Hexapeptide-3, Tripeptide-3, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Glycine Max (Soybean) Symbiosome Extract, Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Dimethiconol, Laureth-23, Laureth-4, Polysorbate 80, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Disodium Phosphate, Sodium Phosphate, Sodium Salicylate, Ethylparaben, Methylparaben, Butylparaben

The packaging:

It’s in the signature deep red colour packaging with SK II logo.
the two piece eye mask are placed in a plastic tray mould to hold its shape. That good as sometimes, in other packaging, we need to peel the two pieces of each other and sometimes we can tore the delicate mask while pulling them apart.
SK II has packaging it well.
I also like that the essence on the mask is not too watery that it’s dripping when I remove it from the plastic tray.

Verdict:

The immediately feeling when I wear the mask that I feel tightness and cooling feeling around the eye area.
I applied the mask for slightly over 20 minutes and pat the under eyes area for a few secondafter removing the mask.
My skin felt so refreshed and soft. My under eyes definitely looks brightened and hydrated.  Too bad I only have one of the mask to really know the wrinkle-reducing effect.

Conclusion: Great packaging, Great to reduce under eyes circle and refresh tired looking eyes.

Here’s a picture of me wearing the mask. I closed my eyes imagining that I’m lying comfortably by the pool side in a secluded little resort with a Glass of pineapple mocktail in the right hand. Chewaah!
(reality: just wearing the mask in my bedroom)
That’s all for my review. See you guys soon.
